JOB DESCRIPTION: VICE PRESIDENT, RETAIL SALES



SUMMARY



Cambridge Resources seeks an intelligent, enthusiastic, and responsible professional with a track record of successful industrial product sales to American specialty and mass market retailers. The ideal candidate will quickly develop a thorough understanding of the Company’s products, markets, customers, and competition, and will be able to quickly and significantly contribute to the successful execution of the Company’s sales and growth plans.



This high-visibility position requires a high level of energy, professional appearance and presentation, and excellent communication skills (written and verbal) that go along with a company-first team mentality. Key to the success of this position will be the ability to provide leadership to the sales organization resulting in rapid sales growth and the enhancement of the brand positioning and value. This role will also provide customer and sales expertise to several independent sales organizations and efforts which are currently based within separate business units.



In some ways, this is an entrepreneurial “grass roots” role, wide in scope, with the overall responsibility of cracking the market and laying a foundation. In other ways, this is a complementary divisional role, working within a larger organization to effectively achieve specific sales and brand building objectives. In a nutshell, we are seeking a true all-around sales professional; a strategist, a hunter, a closer, and a leader. This position will report directly to the Executive Vice President of Cambridge Resources.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



1. Understanding the Company’s product lines, markets, distribution channels, customers, and competition.



2. Develop and manage a high performance sales organization (consisting of both Company and independent sales reps) with which to succeed across various retail channels, achieving both revenue and margin objectives through the use of well formulated and articulated customer plans that include marketing, distribution, inventory management, merchandising and planning.



3. Lead growth and improvement of business profitability and asset management by focusing sales efforts on the largest customers and prospects.



4. Develop sales strategies and tactics to increase branded sales, market share, revenue and profits.



5. Improve brand positioning within the industry and strategic positioning of products.



6. Contribute to the planning process and establish strategic objectives with corporate and business unit leaders



7. Develop senior level key customer connectivity



8. Drive sales operation synergy opportunities across businesses, where and when appropriate



9. Provide regular written status reports and presentations to management on prospecting activities, market intelligence, and customer/prospect feedback.





REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



1. At a minimum, a four-year undergraduate degree is required, preferably in a business management related field.



2. Broad hands-on functional experience in areas of sales to retailers, strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, and market research and planning.



3. Minimum 10 years successful experience in a fast-paced consumer packaged goods sales and marketing environment. Prior experience selling within the retail hardware, electrical, plumbing, and/or automotive channels a strong plus.



4. Demonstrated experience in serving national retail customers in complex channels including superstores, specialty, mass, discount, and smaller independent stores.

7. Previous product launch and negotiation skills and the ability to develop relationships with the retail customers, resulting in strong retail partnerships.



8. Ability to operate effectively in a sales management role that emphasizes creativity, innovation, and an entrepreneurial spirit



9. Leadership skills necessary to drive profitable growth in both existing and startup product lines and markets.



10. Extremely organized and efficient, with extraordinary attention to detail.



11. An innate sense of urgency and accuracy.



12. Ability to set goals and meet deadlines.



13. Must be a strong, pragmatic leader with problem-solving skills who can sell himself/herself to the customer base.



14. Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment and the capability to communicate effectively to a diverse range of individuals



15. A high-energy, bottom-line, collaborative, self-starting leader who is capable of leading a sales organization and motivating them toward success.





COMPENSATION:



Annual salary of $100,000+, commensurate with skills and experience.

Individual and Company performance-based bonus.

Participation in Company 401K plan.
